Christmas at the Jones – Version 2007

Mike and OliviaFor Christmas this year Carrie and I packed up the kids and headed to Chico, CA. We are spending the Christmas to New Year’s Holiday with the Wests, Boulants, Ross, and Jones families in Chico. It was a surprising short drive for us (10 hours) compared to the almost 12 hours from Logan that we have usually done over the last 5 years.

Madalynn – Genetics 101

We had three appointments last Thursday, December 20th at Primary Children’s Hospital. We met with Dr. Alan Rope, Maddie’s geneticist, Dr. Parks, her ENT, a speech pathologist, and her Opthamologist. Being as confused as we are about all the different things that the doctors are telling us I thought it would be great to include a little Genetics 101 with this update.

Variable hearing… What a concept!

So last Friday we had an appointment with Maddie’s Audiologist here in Bountiful. We had been to see him twice and performed two audiograms. We also saw another audiologist in Salt Lake City for a second opinion. As many of you know the results from those 3 different audiograms showed that Madalynn had a significant hearing improvement from what she had only a few months previously. However, things are always changing…

Santa, VoiceMale, and Christmas Parties

As Christmas approaches I’m sure we are all busying ourselves with the typical bustle of the Holiday Season. I have a few stories that I’d like to share this week. A visit from Santa, snow falling fast and hard, work and ward Christmas parties, and music to brighten the Christmas Cheer.

Daugther inspires mother to create Sign Language videos

Leah Coleman was born deaf and her mother, Rachel became frustrated that others couldn’t communicate with Leah. In an effort to help others be able to communicate with Leah, Rachel and her sister created a video series called Signing Time which anyone can learn from. This now airs on Public Television across the country.
