Published by mblyman under The Lyman Family

Madie Eating BreakfastHappy Birthday Madie!

Today marks year number 4. Madalynn was born in Logan Regional Hospital 4 years ago! Man how time sure flies. This year for Madie has been full of changes for Madie.
A move to Woods Cross meant a new school and new doctors. She has progressed wonderfully this last year and is such a wonderful joy and spirit in our family! Kennedy and Madie are such good friends, as are all our girls. It is such a wonderful thing to have girls so close together in age. They play and help each other and each adds a wonderful spirit and personality to the mix.

Stop Oil Speculation - Lower Gas Prices

Published by mblyman under Melting Pot

Yesterday I was reading through my email and came across and email from Delta airlines (today I got another email from the President of the air transportation association) about how Oil speculators are driving the price of oil up.

The email pointed me to www.stopoilspeculationnow.com that allows you to enter your zip code and send a message (email or letter) to your congress person! The website also has some pretty interesting statistics such as: “As speculators continue to dominate the market, the volume of oil traded “on paper” has been as high as 22 times greater than the volume of oil consumed.”

I sent an email to my congressmen letting them know that they need to fix the laws and regulations surrounding oil speculation. If the price of gas is causing your financial budget a little grief you might consider doing the same and passing the word along.

Juan Pablo says hi

Published by mblyman under Melting Pot

Bogota TempleBelow is a video from the Alejandra Trujillo and her four year old son Juan Pablo. Alejandra and the Trujillo family is a family that I taught the gospel to while serving a mission in the Colombia Bogota South Mission in 1998. Alejandra and her mother Ayda were both baptized while I served in the Marsella Ward in Bogota. I also threw in a  picture of the Colombia Bogota Temple that was dedicated while I was serving in Colombia!

Juan Pablo is an amazing little boy. He is very fluent in English and he seems to be a great kid (I’ve never personally met hmi other then over the phone, online chat, and through video). It is wonderful to still be in contact with families from my mission.

Ever seen a grudge match broadcast on TV. This is pretty funny to see these two guys bicker during an interview.

We’ve really enjoyed our girl’s preschool scrapbooks and now you can too. Check out the wonderful world of Mya back in 2005 as she did her first year of preschool. She had such a fun time and she was so very cute! She truly has grown up!

Watch the slideshow of her scrapbook ( suggest opening it out of the blog to view it bigger ;-))

The Benton’s are related to Joseph Smith

Published by mblyman under Geneology

Benton's related to Jospeh SmithI wanted to post the email from Uncle Paul stating that the Benton family line connects us to Joseph Smith.

Thanks Aunt Debbie for the research and Uncle Paul for sharing!

Hello everyone, Debby suggested I send you a note to let you know that Joseph Smith is our cousin. We are all related to him through his maternal MACK line. Here is the scoop for those that would like the info: John and Sarah are our common ancestors. Our line descends through their daughter Elizabeth and his line descends through their son Ebeneezer. For those that need further it can be supplied. Elizabeth Mack was marreied to Edward Sawyer. They were the great grand parents of Silence Sawyer who was married to Nathaniel Niles. Most of you probably have our lines back to that point already. Just thought we’d share our newest discovery with everyone as we thought it was kind of cool and it might make some of those church lessons have a more personal meaning for you. Love to all, Paul :)

Cubs vs. Braves - My first MLB game since 1994

Published by mblyman under The Lyman Family

I’ve spent the last few days in Chicago for the Internet Retailer Conference 2008. I had the opportunity to go to a Chicago Cubs game on Tuesday night (because one of the companies I do business with invited me for free…) Not being a huge baseball fan I probably wouldn’t have gone if it wasn’t free. I remember the last MLB game I went to (also for free) was back in 1994 when the San Francisco giants played the Cincinnati Reds and lost 4 - 17. It was very hot and very boring. Ever since that time I’ve never wanted to go to a MLB game again.

However, this experience was much, much better. Maybe it was the fact that it was Wrigley field, the Cubs or the fact that we had a rooftop party seating with all the free food and drinks I could muster. The game was great, exciting and somewhat close, the food was fabulous, and the people were fun to hang out with.
