Carnival Splendor Cruise – Feb – 2012

On January 29, 2012 Carrie and I departed on our first cruise with the Carnival Splendor. We went on the 7 day cruise with Kim and Russ Laing.

We boarded the ship Sunday afternoon. I was amazed at the size of our ship. 12 stories, 3,104 guests, 1,000 crew members, 3 swimming pools, 5 hotubs and 20 elevators.

We sailed all day Monday heading south along the California and Mexican coast for Cabo San Lucas on the southern tip of the baja penninsula.

We spent two days in Cabo, the first day we did a water taxi tour of the bay, visiting lovers beach and the arches and finishing the day with a dune buggy experience on the baja mountains and beaches.

The second day in Cabo we rented waverunners and did some shopping. Then we hopped back on the cruise ship and headed for Puerta Vallarta.

We only spent one day in Puerta Vallarta. It was more of the tropical rainforest climate and very beautiful. We did a 17 zipline jungle adventure in Puerta Vallarta with Los Veranos ziplines. The longest zipline was 800 feet over a river and a quarter mile long. We were flying across the jungle! The staff was great and after the ziplines we swam and ate lunch at the little restaurant.

The last two days we spent on the boat heading back to Long Beach, CA. Our favorite activities on the ship included the piano bar with a live singer and piano player named Ron Pass who was absolutely amazing and talented. Other fun areas were the pounchliner comedy club, the main theater for shows and events and the restaurants and buffets that had amazing food!

We enjoyed the trip immensely and high recommend cruis’n to everyone!
